General
The General preferences allow you to set your default web browser (OmniWeb, of course!), your Start Page (often referred to as your home page), whether or not Page Icons (also called favicons) are displayed, and whether or not the location field presents an autocomplete drop down. You can also enable Speech Recognition allowing you to control many aspects of OmniWeb using your voice.

The General Preferences pane.
Start Page: Pick one of these to choose what page will load when you create a new window or tab:
- Use our custom-built Start Page, prepared just for you. And the other OmniWeb 5 users. But mainly you.
- Start at your Bookmarks page, to shave precious fractions of a second when accessing a bookmark after startup.
- New windows and tabs will not load any page at all.
- You can specify any web page using this field.
Keyboard Navigation: Perhaps you prefer navigating with the keyboard. The tab key will always move the selection between web form controls, but with this setting you can choose whether it also moves between links on the page. Whichever way you choose, holding option will temporarily reverse this behavior. When you have a link selected in a browser window, pressing return or enter will follow the link. For more information about navigating forms, see the Forms section.
Page IconsWeb sites have the ability to specify an icon that can be used to represent their site or a particular page. When this option is enabled, OmniWeb displays these icons in place of the normal URL/Bookmark icon.
Location BarWith this setting enabled, OmniWeb will present you with a drop-down list of matches as you type into the location bar. Matches are gathered from your bookmarks, history and Shortcuts.
SpeechOmniWeb uses the speech recognition capability built into Mac OS X to recognize various commands you can use to perform different actions while browsing. See Speech for more information.
